With regard to 1 October 2021, Bulgarian citizens can enter the UK only with an international passport, and it must be valid for the entire period of planned stay. Citizens who do not submit such a document will not be admitted to the country.
The new rules related to UK withdrawal from the European Union apply to EU citizens, the European Economic Area and Switzerland.
An exception will only be made for the status of sedence or temporary status of seniority in the UK. They will have the right to enter the country with an identity card at the earliest until the end of 2025. National ID cards will be able to be used by these categories of citizens and after 31 December 2025 if the cards meet the security standards, set by the International Civil Aviation Organization.
